Our new Au Pair Enrichment Program is designed specifically for au pairs and nannies looking to improve their English skills while learning more about American culture. The program provides 40 hours of ESL instruction with a certified ESL instructor and 20 hours of elective courses. The elective courses are an excellent way to meet new friends in your American community and explore new hobbies. Electives vary each session and include courses such as dance, photography, writing, history and others. All students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the program. Learn how to communicate in Portuguese, and to understand what is being said or written in this language. Portuguese is spoken in eight countries: Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe and East Timor. This course, a continuation of Spanish I, is for those wishing to further their study of the Spanish language, as well as the cultures and customs of Spanish-speaking countries. We’ll continue to emphasize vocabulary-building as you increase your knowledge of Spanish grammar, including introducing past and future tenses. Spanish II — Intermediate
Evening at Emory - Language and Travel Institute
Expanding upon the topics, vocabulary and idiomatic expressions learned in Spanish II Beginner, Spanish II Intermediate will expose students to past and imperfect tenses. Students will learn how to conjugate both regular and irregular verbs. This intermediate class will put more emphasis on verbal and written communication through practice of more complex expressions such as feelings, wishes, comparisons, direct and indirect objects. Students will also learn more about when to use such verbs as ser and estar. Learning objectives are subject to modification depending on the needs of the class. Evening at Emory - Language and Travel Institute
Spanish IV is an advanced course designed to improve students’ conversational, reading and writing skills. A variety of contemporary cultural topics will be covered in this eight-week session. Topics will include: la comida, los bailes, la ropa tradicional, la pintura, la escultura, la arquitectura, las celebraciones, el sentido del humor y otros temas interesantes. Classes will be linked through the reading and discussion of a novel, which will provide a better understanding of complex expressions, idioms and figurative language. ¡Ven y disfruta de una buena conversación!
