Our class will give you an overview of what’s often referred to as “The World’s Oldest Modern Sport.” Under close guidance of an experienced instructor you will be introduced to the three fencing weapons: the foil, epee, and sabre. You will learn basic swordplay techniques and develop offensive and defensive bladework skills. As you improve your methods of footwork and lunging you will gain the skills necessary to fence competitively. Shinkendo: The Art of Japanese Swordsmanship

Explore your Bushi Damashii - your Samurai warrior spirit. Shinkendo focuses on developing a strong mind and body as well as a calm, clear, focused spirit. Learn the art of handling a Japanese sword through practice with a bokuto (wooden practice sword). After practicing basic sword handling drills you will put these techniques together into formal patterns (kata), and will progress to learning the art of one-on-one fighting techniques.
