Complimentary Career Seminars at Emory

Emory Center for Lifelong Learning will host three complimentary career seminars this May addressing topics essential to every job seeker. Each seminar will be held on Emory's Briarcliff campus in Building B (click here for a map). Seminars will meet on Thursdays, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Read below for more details.

 

Interviewing Skills

If you’re a job seeker, your goal is to position yourself as the solution to a hiring manager’s need.  You accomplish this by getting interviews!  This workshop will examine interviewing best practices including the "Me, Inc." concept, what to expect from interviewers, interviewing dos and don’ts, mastering the behavioral interview, overcoming your liabilities, creating a winning interviewing image and successfully closing the interview.

Networking for Career Changers

When looking for a job, the phrase "it's not what you know, it's who you know" is especially true. Networking is key to growing your circle of business contacts, but this experience often can be both intimidating and overwhelming. Understanding the basics of successful networking can help you be more at ease with the process. Learn how to network effectively to find a job or expand your professional horizons. Make a great first impression and build relationships that last. We'll explore the 5 top networking tips and you will leave prepared and confident for your next job fair.

Resume Writing

At most, employers spend 2-3 minutes examining each job applicant’s resume. Does yours have what it takes to get noticed? This short seminar will prepare you to produce a clean, consistent, and engaging professional resume. You'll learn what makes a compelling layout, proper length, what to include, and what to leave out. You’ll also learn to create high-impact cover letters and to present your resume in both hardcopy and electronic formats.
