Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are inseparable languages that together layout and format pages on the World Wide Web! This class introduces you to the syntax and explores techniques using both languages to create and format headings, body text, hyperlinks, images, tables and more. You’ll learn to use more than 40 tags using the newest version of HTML, called XHTML, to build pages. You’ll also learn to precisely control the format and layout of items on web pages using inline, embedded, and linked CSS stylesheets. So you can build web PAGES, but can you build a web SITE? This course helps participants learn the process of creating a professional website while working on their own web project. From assessing the site requirements to designing templates to creating the final draft, this course reinforces and polishes your knowledge as a web professional. Emphasis will be placed upon project management skills, planning, and deliverables within a project. Participants will follow a structured design process to plan and build a professional website. Upon completion of this course, participants will understand the web development process and will have a completed website that can serve as part of a professional portfolio. This course serves as the capstone requirement for the Emory Web Certificate program and is only available to certificate enrollees.
