How is the Emory Program Different?
Hands-on Learning
Emory’s Web Certificate programs are not lecture classes. Each course is carefully designed to provide time for students to learn AND practice the real-world web development skills they are gaining. In addition to in-class time, students are expected to spend several hours each week reviewing new material and working independently.
Project Based Learning
Earning a certificate requires the completion of an appropriate website project during the Capstone course. This project reinforces concepts learned in the classroom and provides students with valuable development experience. Upon completing the certificate program, students will have created a professional website that may serve as the basis for a professional portfolio.
Certifications
As they progress through the program, students complete timed, online examinations. Brainbench examinations are used to measure progress, which provides the added benefit of earning students several independent certifications. The Brainbench certificates are in addition to the Emory Web Design or Development Certificate and are valid for three years.
Flexibility and Choice
Our program allows students to specialize. All certification candidates complete a set of core classes for either the web development or web design tracks and then select additional electives to complete the certificate.
