Graphic Design for Print - Capstone

You’ve fiddled in graphic design, but you’re not quite there. You aren’t yet at a point where you feel confident in calling yourself a professional Graphic Designer, managing print design pieces from concept to completion. This course takes you the rest of the way. Over ten weeks you’ll come to understand, in theory and practice, what makes good design — in form and space, in color fundamentals, in translating key messages into design, and in utilizing typography and images effectively. You’ll create three treatment designs and suffer them to the critique of your instructor, a working Art Director. You’ll take your reworked design and compete it as camera-ready for your final exam project, which can serve as a starter for your professional portfolio. The final day will be spent at a professional print shop learning all about the latest equipment and techniques from top-flight professionals in their field. This course serves as the capstone requirement for the Emory Graphic Design for Print Certificate program and is only available to certificate enrollees.
