Paralegal Certificate Financing Options
The Emory University Paralegal Program is priced at a level that most people find affordable. However, we understand that some may require financial assistance to participate in the program.
Our programs are considered adult continuing education for non-credit (at a private university). As such, they are not eligible for funding through state programs including the HOPE Scholarship/Grant, or federal programs including the Pell Grant, Stafford Loan, Perkins Loan, GI Bill, Veterans Affairs funding, or any program for which a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) would be required.
Sallie Mae Loans
Emory University may be able to provide assistance to students in acquiring a loan from Sallie Mae for the program. The Sallie Mae website is located at www.salliemae.com/cel. To apply online for a continuing education loan with Sallie Mae, you will need the following information:
- Emory Center for Lifelong Learning's school code: 606539
- Admissions Counselor - David Pierce or Program Manager - Jennifer John
- Start and end dates of your program
- Disbursement date - select a date at least 30 days before the start of your program
- PLEASE NOTE: Effective July 1, 2008, paper applications will no longer be accepted by Sallie Mae. Old paper applications received by fax or mail will be returned to applicants along with instructions on how to apply online.
- Please notify David Pierce when you have e-signed for your loan documents.
Please Read: Important Reasons to Consider a Co-Borrower
NOTE: If you plan to apply for a Sallie Mae loan, please begin your application process as soon as possible to allow adequate time for processing. Be advised that many programs sell out 6-8 weeks prior to the start date.
Students choosing Sallie Mae as their lending institution should apply for the "Continuing Education Loan" which is one of their "Career Training" loans. Please do not apply for the "Signature Student Loan" as this is a loan for degree-seeking students.
We are unable to register you in the program until payment in full is received, or until formal arrangements have been finalized for your loan. (This means all 3 parties have approved and signed off on your loan - you (and your co-borrower if applicable), your lending institution (e.g. Sallie Mae), and Emory's Center for Lifelong Learning).
Promissory Note Payment Program
Emory University offers registrants in our Paralegal Certificate Program the opportunity to submit tuition payment in two installments – half due at the beginning, and the remainder due at the mid-point of the course. Students choosing this option sign a contract directly with Emory’s Center for Lifelong Learning for a $100 fee, which is split across the two payments. Note: The promissory note must be submitted along with the completed registration form for consideration.
